The Promise of Reducing Road Crashes and Vehicle - 275 Words

The Promise of Reducing Road Crashes and Vehicle (Essay Sample) Content: On the promise of reducing road crashes and vehicle insurance rates, the US law makers passed the seat-belt law in 1985. Whereas some legislators with vested interests had proposed the law prior to 1985, most of them rejected the proposal because they knew that a majority of the people disapproved them. Neverthess, the government spends hundreds of millions of dollars in enforcing the seat-belt laws while overloading the society with horrendous tax burdens. I am of the opinion that seat-belt laws should not be enforced.Seat belt laws infringe peoples rights as guaranteed in the Fourth Amendments. By denying the people through prior restraint the right to choose whether or not to buckle up, the government is intruding into the peoples private lives.Although seat-belt use might protect some passengers in certain kinds of road accidents, there is overwhelming evidence that in other kinds of deaths, passengers have been more critically injured and even killed despite buck ling up their seat belts. Some people have narrowly escaped death in certain kinds of crashes only because they did not wear seatbelts. The government has no right to subject people to injury and fatality in certain types of accidents just because it hopes others will be saved in other kinds of crashes simply by chance. As for the premise that seat-belt regulations would cut ...

Can You Recycle Plastic Lids and Bottle Caps

Many municipal recycling programs throughout the United States still do not accept plastic lids, tops, and caps, even though they take the containers that accompany them. The reason is that lids typically are not made from the same kind of plastic as their containers, and therefore should not be mixed together with them. Plastic Lids and Plastic Containers Don’t Mix â€Å"Just about any plastic can be recycled,† says Signe Gilson, Waste Diversion Manager for Seattle-based CleanScapes, one of the West Coast’s leading â€Å"green† solid waste and recycling collectors, â€Å"but when two types are mixed, one contaminates the other, reducing the value of the material or requiring resources to separate them before processing.† Recycling Plastic Lids and Caps May Pose Dangers to Workers Also, plastic caps and lids can jam processing equipment at recycling facilities, and the plastic containers with tops still on them may not compact properly during the recycling process. They can also present a safety risk for recycling workers. â€Å"Most plastic bottles are baled for transport, and if they don’t crack when baled the ones with tightly fastened lids can explode when the temperature increases,† Gilson says. Most Communities Ask Consumers to Discard Plastic Lids and Caps Some recycling programs do accept plastic caps and lids, but usually only if they are off their containers completely and batched separately. Given the many potential issues, however, most recyclers would rather avoid taking them altogether. Thus, it is hard to believe but true: in most locales, the responsible consumers are the ones who throw their plastic caps and lids into the trash instead of the recycling bin. Metal Lids and Caps Can Sometimes Be Recycled As for metal caps and lids, they, too, can jam processing machines, but many municipalities accept them for recycling anyway because they do not cause any batch contamination issues. To deal with the potentially sharp lid of any can you are recycling (such as a tuna, soup or pet food can), carefully sink it down into the can, rinse it all clean, and put it in your recycling bin. Buying in Bulk Means Fewer Plastic Lids and Caps to Process Of course, the best way to reduce all kinds of container and cap recycling is to buy in large rather than single-serving containers. Does the event you’re holding really require dozens and dozens of 8- to 16-ounce soda and water bottles, many of which will get left behind only partly consumed anyway? Why not buy large soda bottles, provide pitchers of (tap) water, and let people pour into reusable cups? The same kind of approach can be taken with many if not all of the bottled and canned grocery items we buy routinely for our homes. If more people bought in bulk, apportioning out of fewer, larger containers, we could take a huge bite out of what goes into the waste stream.

When Tybalt hears him, he becomes angered. This is non so for the movie. Romeo takes off his mask at the fountain and forgets it at that place. He returns to the mask and that is when Tybalt recognizes his face. However, the consequence is the same, Tybalt becomes enraged and vows to pull out his retaliation on Romeo since Old Capulet said for him to go forth Romeo entirely. Second, I will exemplify you some changed to the time-frame of the secret plan. This is one of the easier comparings since Y ou can state if parts of the secret plan have been rearranged. An illustration of a alteration to the secret plan is when ( in the book ) Romeo first meets Juliet. Romeo says about 50 words to Juliet and kisses her. While she is being kissed, the Nurse calls her away because her female parent wants to see her. In the film, Juliet is called off even before Romeo negotiations to her. Juliet is called off to dance with Paris, but when the dance ends and Paris is watching the pyrotechnics, Juliet and Romeo talk and buss. Last, I will explicate to you some of the secret plan alterations to different relationships between characters. In the screenplay, there is non even a reference of a relationship between Lady Capulet and Tybalt other so nephew and aunt ; but in the film, during the mask, Lady Capulet and Tybalt passionately kiss. Besides whenever Tybalt is slain by Romeo, Lady Capulet declares that she loves Tybalt. This is yet another discrepancy from the book to the film. In decision, one can see all the personal sentiments that went into Shakespeare # 8217 ; s work and if one were to direct a film, any alterations to the secret plan would demo up in comparing to the screenplay easy. No 1 knows what the original version of Romeo + Juliet was like and no 1 of all time will. All that is for certain, is that no 1 can of all time animate what Shakespeare has done in this extraordinary screenplay.
